While the quality of the rock is in many cases the same and the slate is in no way deficient to that found in the Gold range, more critical grading, thickness variation and rougher surfaces are features of this slate category, demanding extra care at the labour stage which is offset by lower prices than those products found in the gold category.

The slates in this range meet all relevant British and European Standards.

All silver range slates are expected to exceed the life of the building and a formal 50 year guarantee is offered on all slates in this range.

We have classified slates in the bronze range, generally because the quality and consistency of the rock would not be on par with either the gold or silver range. This will ultimately add to the labour time on site and may have an affect on the overall aesthetics of the roof.

This class of slate could be Premier, Economy or Rustic Grade and are generally characterised by an uneven surface, inconsistent thickness, possibly twisted length and width ways, may have inclusions and overall the slate wastage may be double that of either the gold or silver range. Where price sensitivity is a major deciding factor in the selection of the roof covering these products provide a cost competitive solution.
